1. Best Overall: HP Zbook 15V G5
We had no problem setting up the HP Zbook 15V G5 exactly as we wanted to suit our needs. The laptop is a fast one, with the Intel Core i7 clocked at 2.2 GHz, it is blazing fast. You can be certain it is worth the price with how good the processor is alone.
The 32GB RAM is more than enough for playing a lot of high-end games & using high-resource software that is required for machine learning, video editing, animation, etc. Not to mention, there’s a 2TB SSD + 2TB HDD, so you’ll never have a scarcity of storage and will be able to store all your favorite games & software.
We played a lot of games, tried a lot of GPU intensive software such as Revit, Blender 3D, etc. and believe us, The laptop handled them all well. It transitioned without any glitches, slowdowns or lags and yet kept up with the graphics & the quality. Thanks to the NVIDIA Quadro P600 with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM.
The keyboard is to our satisfaction as well. The keys are larger than what you would usually see in a laptop, thus allowing users to tap on each key correctly. As you can see, the 15.6 inches of a screen and 1920×1080 resolution means you can have the laptop on split-screen mode and work through multiple applications at the same time without straining your eyes.
Higher the specifications, the higher is the power consumption. The battery life and capacity are good though not as wonderful as we would have liked it to be for a video editing laptop. It is better suited as a personal home computer than the one you travel with.
2. Best for Gaming: HP 4674671 Omen 17-W033DX
Gaming laptops are making waves currently. With 12GB RAM, Omen is one powerful machine at a reasonable price. It is a used product but works just like new. In fact, it is backed by Amazon Renewed Guarantee. The HP 4674671 Omen 17-W033DX Gaming Laptop has been inspected and tested under stringent conditions.
The laptop has great power, is fast and allows multitasking at an all-new level. The storage of 1 TB SSD provides a super-fast computing experience. You can just keep on storing albums, music and media files till eternity. Experience the most powerful hardware and a cool design to match up.
We watched a movie and played the Overwatch and Skyrim, the experience was just awesome, thanks to the wide 17.3-inch screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution. The games and graphics are crisp and sharp. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M graphics along with 4GB GDDR5 skillfully enhances the video memory.
There is a USB 3.0 for quicker charging and file transfers at 10x speed. It transfers files faster than USB 2.0. You can play games and work on complicated and heavy applications with ease. You can play the most aggressive games on this laptop. The audio and 4k IPS display is to die for. Battery life is approximately 3.5 hours, with all the heavy-duty work it does.
3. Best for Business Executives: HP Envy 13
You expect a premium laptop to deliver more than just good looks. At only 2.5 pounds, the HP Envy 13 is sleek and capable of great performance, which makes it a true Ultrabook.
It works on Intel Core i7-8565U and has a whopping 1TB SSD that brings both worlds of a faster system and good storage space together. However, the key to its premium appeal starts from the brushed aluminum chassis.
The 13.3-inch 4K IPS UHD touch screen display comes is excellent and could playback Stranger Things in 4K from Netflix flawlessly using the NVIDIA GeForce MX250GPU. It is, however, not very good for gaming at high FPS.
The fast charge batteries can go from 0 to 50 in 45 minutes. If you watch movies in 4K, the battery is consumed in about 5.5 hours. So if you are someone who travels a lot, you could just plug it in before your class and have enough charge for a few hours.
The webcam is the weakest feature, but that can be solved by getting an external conference webcam. The pictures were grainy, even in a brightly lit lab. Since it is so thin, we had some concerns about overheating. But it stayed quite cool probably because the aluminum chassis does not trap heat.
There are 4 speakers produce clear but slightly metallic sound. On either side, you get a USB 3.1 Type-A port. The left side also has a Type-C port and the right side, a card reader.
4. Best 2 in 1 HP Laptop for Work: HP Spectre x360 2-in-1
The HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 is one powerful laptop or Ultrabook. It comes with ease of function and power. It is also equipped with a touchscreen and pen. There is enough battery life to last a long haul flight.
This 2-in-1 system with Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM and 512GB of SSD storage are quite sufficient to keep up with the competitive world on the go. The stylus makes matters exciting by allowing you to draw and write with ease. It simply glides on the surface of the touch screen.
The 4K display with 3840 x 2160 screen resolution also calls for attention along with the sleek design. There are slim bezels on the vertical sides with a thicker one at the top and bottom. The body is dark greyish silver with shiny gold highlights on the edges, hinges and the area surrounding the touchpad.
At 4.61 lbs it is a bit heavy. The laptop has a charging port on the left side along with USB 3.1 port, speaker grille, headphone jack, and SD card slot. The HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 touch screen laptop has a fingerprint sensor as well.
The hinges work quite well, whether you are working on the keyboard or on the touchscreen. It works as a tablet as well. The screen display is very crisp and free from pixelation. Good for browsing and social networking.
5. Best HP Laptop for Business: HP Elitebook 840 G5
This is a notebook for the entrepreneur though the design doesn’t fall into the trap plain, rectangular shape. Instead, it looks slim and sleek with the Elitebook logo engraved on the hinge.
The Elitebook has sufficient battery life to go through your average workday and is powered with Intel Core i7-8650U, equipped with16 GB of RAM and 512 GB storage.
The keyboard is an island-style, a classy one with backlit and a pointing stick. The keys are the slightest bit elevated, giving it a nice touch that we found satisfying as we were able to tap on the keys without worrying about typos. While the chin of the display appeared to be a bit thick, as the bezel portion is slim, it looks attractive enough.
The sound on this laptop is amazing. The speakers provide the perfect surrounding sound you need while you are working on an important business presentation. You can work on several applications at the same time without experiencing any lag.
We didn’t find Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics to be that good and don’t think the laptop is suitable for gamers. The LCD screen with 3840 x 2160 display surprisingly looks average on this device. However, if you are deep in office work and want a laptop that has the best security systems enabled, you will certainly want to go for this one.
6. Best HP Laptop For Work From Home: HP Pavilion 15T
The HP Pavilion 15T laptop boasts of several great features, the first one is the Intel Core i7-8550U processor which delivers excellent performance and speed allowing you to maximize productivity. The 256 GB SSD offers very fast data retrieval and lightning-fast reaction time. There is also a 1 TB SATA hard drive which offers a good amount of storage for all your pictures and videos.
The touchscreen with its 1920×1080 pixel display is WLED backlit and provides an excellent display with vivid visuals. The backlit keyboard is comfortable to use and sustained typing over a long period does not affect the user. The build quality of this laptop really great and it gives you a premium feel.
Overall, this laptop is perfect for those who are looking for performance as well as portability. It comes packed with a lot of features for the price.
7. Best for Traveling: HP Spectre Folio
Clad in brown leather, with exceptional looks and 10 hours of battery life, the HP Spectre Folio is a dream machine.
The device is slightly more than 0.5 inches thick. Naturally, there is not enough space for a lot of ports. What you do get are two Thunderbolt 3 ports on the right side (capable of data transfer at 40 GB/sec) and a USB Type-C on the left paired with a headphone jack. The rear has a SIM slot.
It effortlessly changes from a laptop to a tablet in an instant. The FHD 1920 x 1080 touchscreen is very responsive and works well. With 313 nits of brightness, it is no surprise that movie playback is so vivid and lifelike.
HP bundles a stylus that is more than capable of taking notes or doodling. The speaker strip produces a loud and clear sound that is perfectly matched with the screen.
The keyboard is quite large, with well-spaced keys that are backlit. The sole minus is that the i7-8500Y Processor 1.5 GHz is not as powerful as the latest H series. Hence gamers won’t be too happy.
8. Best for College Students: HP Pavilion Power
The HP Pavilion Power laptop has an Intel Core i7-7700HQ Processor, Quad-Core, 2.8 GHz to 3.8 GHz which enables it to produce a good amount of power. Multitasking is easy because of the speed of the processor.
The AMD Radeon Graphics card enables the user to experience the power of discrete graphics. Any graphics hungry program can run efficiently and without any problems on this machine. The 15.6 inches backlit display is bright and colorful.
It has IPS anti-glare technology which cuts glare significantly. This means that strong ambient light does not affect the screen viewing in any significant manner. It has 16 GB of RAM which means that most programs run very smoothly. The RAM along with the power the processor creates is great for a multitude of applications making this laptop useful for many different types of users.
This laptop provides a lot of connectivity options including a USB Type-C and an SD card reader. The body and finish are one of the weak points of this laptop, the lid is prone to twisting so it needs to be handled carefully.
9. Best Performance Under Budget: HP Envy X360
With angular edges and smart, classy design, the HP Envy x360 is an impeccable device. At almost three pounds, it is light yet functional.
The Ryzen 5 CPU works smoothly in the background. 8 GB of DDR4 is more than enough to keep open tons of memory hogging software and yet not slow down the performance noticeably.
The touchscreen display is large and very clear. The speaker strip produces a clear and crisp sound that is refreshing. It is one of the rare laptops where you can watch a long movie without wishing that you had access to a bigger device.
As has become a standard fixture in this class, there are two USB 3.1 Type-A ports and one Type-C. As usual, the Vega 8 graphics card is perfect and does not heat up even if you play games for several hours.
The only downside seems to be the keyboard, which is not ergonomic. The keys are small, and the travel is minimal. The claim about battery seems little stretched as in our tests, the battery lasted about 7 hours.
10. Best for Battery Life and Performance: HP Probook 450 G6
After covering several HP laptops, we found the Probook 450 to be the ideal business-level laptop as considered in this price range.
The HP Probook 450 is suitable for professionals, home, school education, and small businesses. Having an 8th generation i5 processor, it is super fast and efficient and can smoothly handle day-to-day tasks without a lag. Its clean and simplistic design imparts a nice look and feels to the device.
The overall build quality is also pretty decent. Unlike many laptops, this model from HP comes with a flexible and smooth linear hinge that allows the user to flip open and close the laptop with one hand, which keeps the lid firmly in place.
- There are two parallel openings placed at the bottom of the laptop for letting out the heated air, unlike other laptops in which it is usually placed at the sides.
- The laptop comes with a 1366 x 768 screen resolution having a Matt-finish anti-glare coating, which is good for your eyes. Even though it has less viewing angles, you can still manage to have a decent visual experience.
- The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v4.2 combo have breakneck transfer speeds, allowing you to have great networking experience. Its 720p webcam is decent, providing a good Skype calling experience.
- Coming to the key typing experience, we would say that it is one of the best in this price range. The keyboard of the HP ProBook series provides a decent tactile feel with a satisfactory key travel and a comfortable typing experience.
- The touchpad, made of glass, provides a great navigating experience as well. It comes with integrated buttons and multi-finger gestures that work well with general use.
After using it for a considerable time, we found that its two integrated stereo speakers fetch a decent audio output without any distortions in both high and mid-low frequencies.
11. Best for Style and Performance: HP Pavilion 14-inch HD Notebook
The notebook has an Intel Core with a speed of up to 3.1 GHz, offering great speed and functionality. Along with this is the 8 GB RAM, which enables the running of several windows at once, and of opening larger files without too many problems.

The battery life of 7 hours plus means that the user can work on the machine without worrying about charging issues. It has 2 USB ports which are useful for connecting an external mouse or keyboard. It also features an SD card reader for a quick download of photos from your camera.
The battery life is not as great as advertised when running the laptop on full power mode with the backlit keyboard on. That is something that has to be taken into account when purchasing this computer.

12. Best for Portability: HP Notebook 15.6
The HP Notebook 15.6 comes with a 7th generation Intel Core i3-7100U 2.4 GHz dual-core processor and an Intel HD Graphics Card. It also incorporates a 1TB hard drive, allowing for sufficient storage space for all your files and photos.
The natural finger-touch navigation is useful for utilizing the power of Windows 10 to the maximum. The 8 GB RAM allows the user to run most games smoothly while multiple programs and browser tabs can be run simultaneously as well. While this laptop will let you use multiple tabs while working, it won’t be of much use to run any heavy applications that you may have.
However, with good enough hardware, this Notebook doesn’t have a good display screen. It has 15″ Touchscreen with a 1366×768 pixel screen resolution, which unfortunately doesn’t withstand the expectations. The laptop does not feature an optical drive which may be a disadvantage for some users who have a need for utilizing DVDs or CDs.
The HDMI port enables the laptop to connect to other devices like a TV, or any other parallel display. This functionality allows you to use this laptop professionally for presentations as well as having a second display at home for watching movies or playing games. Overall, this is a good laptop for people who want a basic laptop with reasonable features as well as portability.
13. Cheap HP Laptop: HP Lightweight Stream Pro
The HP Stream Pro offers a very portable and light package, ideal for students to carry around. It has a long battery life and is perfect for traveling professionals who need power on the road.

However, the battery is long-lasting and there is no fear of suddenly losing power even while running multiple applications. The weight of the notebook is just 2.58 pounds which is very handy for traveling professionals.
The HD webcam is extremely efficient and delivers very good picture quality. The audio quality of this notebook is extremely good. The dual speakers sound dynamic and full which is an added bonus.
14. Best HP Chromebook: HP 2-in-1 Chromebook
The HP 2-in-1 Chromebook has a design to die for, really. It is both a laptop and a tablet. The package also includes a stylus and keyboard. First things first, the laptop has a superb display.
The 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage can be sufficient for low-key users.
It is thin and light, so you can carry it around with ease. Many other laptop-cum-tablets in the market ask you to buy a keyboard separately. However, this one is all-inclusive. There are a few applications that work on Windows or Mac OS, but if you can work without them this is your pick.
The HP 2-in-1 Chromebook has a 12.3-inch backlit display and 2400 x 1600 screen resolution. It comes with a touchscreen and an Intel Core M3 processor. Being a ChromeOS based laptop, it also supports the Google Play Store that lets you download Android apps of your choice.
The laptop can be easily converted into a tablet, simply by lifting the two of the plastic protuberances connected to the keyboard. Video streaming looks great on this zippy machine. The images are super sharp and crisp. If you add Bang & Olufson stereo, it turns into a deadly combination.
The 2-in1 is equipped with two USB-C ports, a 3.5 mm jack and a micro SD slot. It comes with two cameras, a front-facing one and a normal one.
15. Best for Long Battery Life: HP Stream
The HP Stream 11 is perfect for increasing your productivity. After testing it for a month of usage, we found that it is ideal for students and lightworkers to get away with their day-to-day workflow.
However, due to its limited storage capacities and not-so-powerful Intel x5-e8000 processor, you will not be able to run any studio or modeling and other high-end software. You can always switch to Windows 10 Home. But you cannot switch back to the S mode again. The 11.6″ screen (1366 x 768) is suitable for simple web browsing, word processing, and 720p HD youtube video streaming.
Based on our observations on our one-month usage, we would say that the keyboard has good tactile feedback and smooth key travel, making it comfortable to work on. This is a lightweight laptop and is pretty small, which is suitable for traveling purposes. It offers adequate performance and enables a smooth, light productivity work experience.
The video recording or video conferencing experience with its VGA webcam was terrible. You may use it for simple and light everyday usage. But we are expecting an update for more improvised camera quality. We may have to wait for it till the next year, however.
It comes with two bottom-facing speakers, which provide decent sound quality and comes in impressive volume levels. What we liked about the laptop is its multi-touch and super sensitive touchpad, which was not expected in this price range. The two-finger scrolling and navigating experience were also quite smooth and fast.
With its 2-cell, 37.69 watt-hour Li-ion battery pack, this HP laptop allows you to work for about 6-8 hours of full charge with medium screen brightness. Its 4GB RAM and 32GB storage don’t count for much but it can be sufficient to store important documents and regularly used software.
