We recently compared the top RTX 2080 laptops and, today, we’ll take a look at some of the best RTX 2070 laptops. And, whereas the RTX 2080 laptops will offer a bit more in-game performance, in terms of price-to-performance, the RTX 2070 will still be able to provide ideal performance, but at a lower price-point.
So, if you don’t quite have enough to spend in order to get a higher-end RTX 2080 laptop (prices start at around ~$2,000), these RTX 2070 laptops are a nice alternative. And, we’ve listed seven different RTX 2070 laptop options starting at ~$1,400 and have rated them based on the price they come in at and the hardware they come with.

The table below showcases our four favorite picks for the top RTX 2070 laptops across a few different categories. We’ve selected our picks for the best overall RTX 2070 laptop, the option that offers the best price-to-performance, the cheapest RTX 2070 laptop, and the best 4K RTX 2070 laptop.
To learn more about each of these laptops, Click the “Read Review »” link to read our overview on that specific option. We’ve also picked a few Honorable Mention options, which you can see by scrolling further down on this page.
1. HP Omen 17.3″
Most of the RTX 2070 laptops on this list are all fairly similar. The only real differences between them are their screen sizes, their screen resolution (the CUK Omen 15t comes with a 4K resolution display), the amount of storage they have, their refresh rate, and their price.
But, all of the options on this list come with an Intel Core i7-9750H or 8750H processor, 16GB of RAM, and, of course, an RTX 2070 GPU. So, based on those specs alone, most of these laptops will provide similar performance. Therefore, price and refresh rate were the biggest determining factor in how we rated them.
And, in our opinion, at ~$1,800, the MSI GE65 Raider-051 offers the best price-to-performance out of the other options on this list. It is one of the more affordable RTX 2070 laptops on this list, but there aren’t many sacrifices. It comes with a 15.6-inch 1080P 240Hz display and a 512GB NVME SSD.
The HP Omen and ASUS ROG Strix Scar II listed below are both cheaper. However, the Omen is only ~$200 less and only has a lower refresh rate. And, the ROG Strix Scar II not only has a lower refresh rate, but also an older processor.
The one downside of the MSI GE65 Raider, though, is that it doesn’t have a larger 17.3-inch display, instead opting for a 15.6-inch display. If you need a larger display, you might want to check out the HP Omen listed below. But, if you don’t mind the more compact nature of the MSI GE65 Raider, it’s probably the best RTX 2070 laptop for you at the moment.
2. MSI GE65 Raider-051 15.6″
If you want to save a little bit of money, or you want a larger display, then you’ll probably want to consider HP Omen’s 17.3-inch RTX 2070 laptop. This HP Omen model comes with an Intel Core i7-9750H processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 17.3-inch 1080P 144Hz display. It also comes with a 256GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive.
These specs aren’t significantly different than any of the other models on this list. However, at just under ~$1,600, the HP Omen offers one of the best price-to-performance ratios of the options on this list. It’s the most affordable 17.3-inch RTX 2070 laptop available right now and it comes with the newer 9th Generation Intel Core i7 processor.
If you don’t need the larger screen or the newer generation processor, though, and you just want the most affordable RTX 2070 laptop on the market, then the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II listed below would be worth checking out.
3. CUK Omen 15t 15.6″
At just under $1,400, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II brings a ton of performance to the table. Obviously, you get and RTX 2070 GPU, which should be powerful enough to max out any game you throw at it on this laptop’s 1080P monitor.
But, you also get an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, 16GB of memory, and a 15.6-inch 1080P 144Hz display. And, while it is an older generation Intel Core i7 processor, 8th Generation Intel processors are still very viable options.
The bottom line, though, is that, while the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II doesn’t have the best specs out of all of the laptops on this list, it does come with a pricetag that is significantly lower than its competitors. And, because the core components in the ROG Strix Scar II (the CPU, GPU, and RAM) are pretty much identical to the other laptops on this list, it won’t lag that far behind the other options in terms of in-game performance as well.
So, if you want to save some money without sacrificing too much performance, the ROG Strix Scar II is probably your best bet.
4. ASUS ROG Strix Scar II 15.6″
On a hardware basis, the CUK Omen 15t is a worthy option for anyone who wants a 4K laptop that will deliver a solid gaming experience. It’s a tough sell, though, because for a lower price, you could land this HP Omen laptop, which, while it doesn’t have a 4K display, it does come with a larger screen size (17.3″) and a higher-end RTX 2080 GPU.
But, if you are deadset on a 4K gaming laptop, the CUK Omen 15t isn’t a bad option. Its Intel Core i7-9750H processor, 16GB of RAM, and its RTX 2070 GPU are good enough to have you playing most games at ~60 FPS on max settings.
The lack of G-Sync might hurt the CUK Omen 15t a bit, though, in those games where the RTX 2070 can’t quite maintain 60 FPS at 4K. And, if you have more money to spend, the MSI GT75 Titan might be worth considering. It is also a 4K laptop, but it comes with a more powerful RTX 2080 GPU and G-Sync.
5. HP Omen 15.6″
Another worthy RTX 2070 laptop option worth mentioned is ASUS’ ROG Zephyrus S. In terms of hardware, the ROG Zephyrus S has the best specs out of all of the RTX 2070 laptops on this list.
Along with its Intel Core i7-9750H processor, RTX 2070 GPU, 16GB of RAM, 1TB SSD, and 1080P screen, it also comes with a 240Hz G-Sync display. No other laptop on this list comes with NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology.
However, the downside of the ROG Zephyrus S is the fact that it comes in at just under ~$2,200. The makes it more expensive than a couple of different RTX 2080 laptops. And, while those options don’t have G-Sync either, the extra GPU power they offer and the lower pricetag make the ROG Zephyrus S a hard sell.
Still, though, the 240Hz refresh rate and G-Sync technology are nice additions. And, if you’re looking to play more competitive esports titles, you probably won’t need the extra GPU power. So, in that case, I believe there would be merit in choosing the RTX 2070 ROG Zephyrus S over cheapoer RTX 2080 options that don’t have as high of a refresh rate and lack G-Sync.
6. ASUS ROG Zephyrus S 15.6″
If you like the HP Omen 17.6-inch RTX 2070 laptop that we chose as our top value pick, but you don’t necessarily need the larger screen, or you like the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II, but wish it had a the newer i7-9750H processor, then you’ll probably want to consider this HP Omen 15.6-inch laptop.
This HP Omen 15.6-inch laptop is wedged right between the HP Omen 17.6-inch option and the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II. With exception to its smaller display, the Omen 15 has the same specs as the Omen 17 and costs $100 less.
On the other hand, it costs $100 more than the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II, but it does come with the newer generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor.
So, if you’re considering either of those models and you want the “in-between” option, then the HP Omen 15 is worth checking out.
7. ASUS ROG GL704GW 17.3″
Just like the HP Omen 15 above serves as the middle point between the HP Omen 17 and the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II in terms of the processor choice and screen size, this ASUS ROG laptop (which is also a Scar II model) does the same thing, but in reverse.
The GL704GW comes with the same specs as the ASUS ROG Strix Scar II, except it comes with a larger 17.3-inch display and costs ~$100 more. It also costs the same as the HP Omen 15 listed above. The GL704GW has a larger screen than the HP Omen 15, but the HP Omen 15 comes with the newer Intel Core i7-9750H processor.
So, really, these four laptops (the two HP Omens and the two Scar IIs) are all viable options depending on whether you prefer a larger screen, a newer processor, or a lower price.
